One of my favourite things to do in London is meet friends for a glass of wine or a pint at the pub. Whether it’s after work or on the weekend, a good pub in London isn’t hard to find.
Which one you choose will obviously depend on what type of atmosphere or appeal you’re looking for. Some are known for their amazing food others for their chilled-out atmosphere or massive beer garden. I’ll be selling my extended London Travel Guide soon which has a larger list of recommended pubs in the Capital, but until then, have a look at my top 5 list below.
This pub has arguably one of the best and biggest beer gardens in London. The crowd is quite good and they do a great BBQ in the summer.
This is a great pub just next to Waterloo station but what most people don’t know is that it has some of the best Thai food in the city. I usually stop in here on a weeknight to grab a bite to eat and a drink with friends.
One of the best roasts I’ve ever had in London. You may have some trouble finding it the first time you visit as it’s just above a coffee shop, but once you do, you’ll be glad you did!
Whenever I need a pick-me up after a long week at work, I come to the Wheatsheaf on a Thursday night to blow off steam. It’s great location for me as I work in Canary Wharf so only takes 15 minutes on the Jubilee line. It’s also good for those who want to escape the typical city crowd near Bank.
I know I’ve been giving the south preferential treatment thus far, so I’ve made sure to include a favourite of mine North of the river. The Water Poet has it all. A beer garden, pool parlour, pub quizzes, and much much more.
I’ll leave you with this thought…
